Justin D. MacCarthy, M.D., F.R.C.S.C., recently joined the medical staff of Clearfield Hospital.
He specializes in pediatric and adult ear, nose and throat diseases and disorders, as well as the early detection and treatment of all types of head and neck cancers and facial skin cancer. Dr. MacCarthy cares for patients who have experienced hearing loss, especially those who have suffered industrial- or military-related hearing loss. He also specializes in allergy testing, and evaluates patients for sleep apnea and snoring disorders. Dr. MacCarthy performs surgery using the latest technology, including image-guided surgery for sinus disorders and minimally invasive tonsillectomies using radio frequency and laser techniques. His office is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic technology relating to head and neck diseases. Dr. MacCarthy was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. He earned his medical degree from the University College of Dublin, Ireland, and completed training in his specialty at the University of Toronto, Canada. Dr. MacCarthy is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons -- Canada, and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Otolaryngology. He has more than 30 years of experience in medicine. Prior to relocating to Clearfield, Dr. MacCarthy practiced for 12 years in North Carolina, and was associated with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before that, he practiced medicine in southern California, where he was associated with the UCLA Medical Center. He and his wife, Cynthia, an attorney, have been married for 16 years.
