Clearfield Hospital’s School of Radiologic Technology was recently re-accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. According to Sandra Alsop, the school’s program director, accreditation means the school’s curriculum and instructors meet JRCERT’s strict quality standards for radiologic sciences education. The accreditation is valid for eight years. JRCERT is the only agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education for the accreditation of educational programs in radiography, radiation therapy, magnetic resonance and medical dosimetry. “The radiologists of Clearfield Hospital congratulate the School of Radiologic Technology on its re-accreditation and extend sincere appreciation for the school's ongoing commitment to clinical and academic excellence. We are proud of the contributions made to Clearfield Hospital's imaging services through the efforts of the school, and look forward to its continued success,” stated Dr. Richard G. Williams, radiologist and medical adviser to the program. Clearfield Hospital’s School of Radiologic Technology is a 24-month program that includes didactic and clinical instruction and experience in the areas of general radiography, fluoroscopy, mobile and C-arm radiography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasonography, nuclear medicine, mammography and special procedures. This instruction is provided by two full-time instructors, five part-time instructors, four radiologists and the hospital's imaging department staff of registered radiographers. Upon completion of the program, graduates receive a certificate and are eligible to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists examination to become a registered radiographer.
