Requirements

Education

High School Graduate or have successfully completed a General Education Development (GED) Test. 

The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) have adopted the new Radiography Curriculum that included a required general education component.

All applicants for the class beginning September 2008 must complete a minimum of
fifteen (15) credits of college level course work as a prerequisite for entrance into the program.

The following courses must be completed with a "C" or better before being accepted into the School of Radiologic Technology.

  • Math (Level 100 Math course, three (3) credits - Algebra preferred)
  • English (Level 100 English course, three (3) credits - Composition preferred)
  • Three (3) credit couses from the following choice to equal a total of nine (9) credits.
    • Computer Science (Level 100 computer course)
    • Natural Sciences (Level 100 science course)
    • Anatomy and Physiology (Level 100 course)
    • Ethics (Level 100 course)
    • Psychology (Level 100 course)
    • Sociology (Level 100 course)
    • Medical Terminology (Level 100)

Applicant's high school class ranking, grade point average, and GPA of 15 required college level credits, will be a consideration in the selection process.  SAT scores may also be a factor in the selections.  An entrance examination will be given early in March.

Transfer Students

Students desiring to transfer from other accredited radiology programs will be considered for acceptance on an individual basis.  The school reserves the right to determine the student's knowledge and to place the student in the program accordingly.

Due to the variation between programs in course sequencing and integration of academic and clinical components, we will not accept transfer students based on length of time completed in another program.

Uniforms

Uniforms are required and standardized.  Uniform purchase is made through the school office.  The general description follows:  

Navy uniform slacks
Navy uniform top
Navy lab coat
White socks
Identification and film badges
White all leather athletic shoes (limit color trim)
