Blair, Cambria, Centre, Clearfield, Elk, Indiana & Jefferson Counties!

 

Volunteers: The Heart of Hospice

Volunteers play an extremely important role in hospice. Without them, hospice would not be able to carry on their work.

Volunteers provide assistance at all levels of skill. As a volunteer, you may select your own duties from possible areas of involvement, such as:

Administrative Support:

  • Clerical duties
Fundraisers:
  • Participate in organization of events.
  • Work the events

Bereavement Program:

  • Mailings
  • Phone Calls
  • Visits
  • Support Groups
  • Memorial Services

Patient Care:

  • Respite Care
  • Socialization
  • Companionship
  • Compassionate Friend

Volunteer Training and Requirements
  • Complete application, references and background check
  • Hospital orientation
  • Training and on going education
  • Annual evaluation, mandatory & competencies
  • Maintain Active Status within the year

Commitment

Your level of personal commitment is entirely up to you. You will establish your commitment in consultation with the Volunteer Coordinator, the patient, and the patient’s family. On an average, volunteers active in home care serve between eight and ten hours per month.
