About Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy prepares individuals of all ages to return to their normal activities, such as dressing, hygiene, eating, work, and leisure/play activities following an accident, illness, surgery or physical/mental impairments at birth.

| Occupational Therapists also assist patients in developing home exercise programs, instruction on safety within the home environment as well as functional activities with possible task modification. Occupational Therapists provide services throughout the life span, from infants to geriatric populations, with a multitude of diagnoses that limit an individual’s independence in self-care, work and leisure tasks.
Diagnoses may included, but are not limited to: Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, Arthritis, Hip & Knee Replacement Surgery, Dementia, Work related injuries, Cumulative Trauma Disorders such as carpal tunnel, surgical hand repairs such as tendon transfer repair, general weakness after surgery, Dementia, Visual impairment following stroke or injury, and Lymphedema.
Occupational Therapy Services
The nature of Occupational Therapy and its role in the health care arena lends itself to many areas of practice. At Clearfield Hospital, OT services are provided in a variety of settings:
In-patient
Services are available Monday through Friday and Sunday as necessary to work with stroke, respiratory, hip/knee repairs and debilitated patients.
Short Term Rehabilitation
Daily services provided for patient’s with very specific rehab goals. The sessions consist of more intensive therapy intervention so patients can safely return home.
Out-patient
Rehabilitation services are available Monday - Friday 7:00 AM until 4:30 PM with other appointments scheduled as needed. Our diverse staff consists of certified ergonomic specialists, hand specialists, vision specialists, lymphedema therapists and many more. Services can be provided at the hospital on the second floor as an outpatient or at Therapy Works, our off-site outpatient clinic.
The Better Breathing Center
One of the most crucial parts of the outpatient pulmonary services program is provided by one of most experienced occupational therapists. This program runs Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 4:30 pm.
Home Health
As part of the home health regimen, OT can also be completed in the home for patients who are considered home-bound.
