The Better Breathing Center is located on the second floor of the Clearfield Hospital, in the Rehabilitation Department. 

About the Better Breathing Center
The Better Breathing Center, part of Clearfield Hospital's Rehab Department, is a multi-disciplinary program which provides exercise, conditioning, endurance training, education and emotional support to patients with chronic pulmonary disease.

The objective of the program is to help chronic lung patients control and alleviate the symptoms and complications associated with various lung diseases (cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, etc.). Our program is unique to this area and Clearfield Hospital is the only facility in central PA that offers a program like this for lung patients. The program has reduced hospital admissions for their participants, reduced medication costs, increased functional capacity and given patients with this often debilitating disease a better quality of life.

The Program
The pulmonary rehabilitation at the Better Breathing Center strives to stabilize or reverse both the physical and mental aspects of pulmonary disease and attempts to return each patient to the highest possible functional capacity allowed by his/her condition and life style. The treatment team consists of respiratory therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, dieticians as well as a licensed professional counselor. The team is led by our medical director and pulmonologist, Dr. Bruno Romeo.

Who Can Benefit?
Patients who may have:

- Emphysema   - Pneumoconiosis
- Chronic bronchitis (COPD)   - Restrictive lung disease
- Cystic fibrosis   - Lung transplant
- Bronchiectasis   - Asthma
- Lung Resection   - Lung Cancer (not currently under treatment)
- Interstitial Fibrosis   - Pnuemonconiosis (Black Lung)

Referrals are accepted from all sources, including self. Please call our Intake & Assessment Coordinator or the Director of Rehabilitation Services.
