Stopping the Spread of Germs at Work

Information from the Centers for Disease Control,

Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough.

Use a tissue, then throw it away. Wash your hands.

Clean your hands often!!!

Use soap and water. Wash for 10 to 15 seconds or longer, by vigorously rubbing hands together. Alcohol-based sanitizers are good to use if no soap and water are available.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.

Germs can live for a long time (some can live for two hours or more) on surfaces like doorknobs, desks, tables, keyboards, or even phones!  Please be considerate of others when using their equipment or if others will be working at your station on a different shift.

Keep wounds clean and covered--Even paper cuts!!

This prevents the spread of bacteria from cuts or introducing bacteria to an open wound/cut.

Stay at home when you are sick and check with a health care provider when needed.

Keeping your distance from others when sick may help to protect them from getting sick.  If you come to work ill, this can start a vicious cycle of making everyone sick!

Practice other good health habits.

Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids and eat nutritious foods.
